We had a great Christmas! On Christmas Eve we made pizza and read The Night Before Christmas.
We've been reading it every night this December to introduce Santa to James. On Christmas morning we all woke up early to open gifts. Santa had visited (he enjoyed some cookies and an apple for the reindeer) and brought the boys some special treats.
He decided to go green this year and wrapped his gifts in reusable bags which we will set out next year for him to use.
Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for the rest of the day. James was also visited by Santa at their house. It was a super fun day because James is starting to understand what Christmas is, and he was so joyful the entire day.
Tomorrow we head for Tucson to have our final Christmas celebration and to celebrate the New Year.
Merry Christmas from the Texas Mooneys!

Getting in the Christmas Spirit
Today we made gingerbread houses. We went to the store this morning and headed up to Round Rock to build them with Grandpa Mark and Grandma Susan. When James was napping my mom and I put the houses together. We did a little research and found the best way to adhere them together was to make a caramel and dip the sides of the houses together. This made the joints so strong that they would not fall apart. This is definitely something I recommend to those of you with kids and want to build strong gingerbread houses. Definitely assemble them without the kiddos because the sugar is h-o-t.
We used graham crackers and tons of candy to decorate. They turned out so cute!
James' and his armless/legless/headless gingerbread man
Grandpa Mark's with his self portrait gingerbread man sun bathing
Grandma Susan's (love the window boxes)
Jimmy's (he gets the award for best shingles)
Anna's (it looks just like our house, right?)
Some of us also decorated gingerbread men =)
Jimmy's self portrait with a burger and fries
And Anna's Rudolf
James did great. I was a little worried that he might not decorate the house and just stuff himself silly with candy. He did have some candy, but he decorated his house and knew when he had had too much candy and stopped.
He ran his sugar high off in the yard next door with the neighbor boys who taught him to play soccer. It was so fun to see James interact with the older boys, and they were so caring to have been so patient with him.
Today was a great day. It really felt like we were making some family memories and traditions =)

Our Little Chunk-a-Lunk
Brendan turned 2 months on the 11th of December. He is such a great baby. Despite the colic, he is super happy and smiles at us all the time. He's sleeping great (knock on wood). At his 2 month appointment Dr. Ma said he looks great! He is 23 inches high and 14lbs! His head size and weight is in the 95 percentile. He is so round a cute right now. James, Jimmy, and I just love him to death =)

Nursery
We have just about everything we need for the arrival of this new baby. We have finished the nursery and I am so proud of it. My mom has done so much and everyone has contributed something special...including James. Here are some pics =)
Here is James' contribution. He painted the leaves for the mobile. It makes me well up every time I see it. I can't wait for him to be a big brother.
So now we are waiting for this little guy's arrival. We don't have a clue as to what to name him, so we're waiting to meet him to decide. Waiting is hard =)

5 K
Jimmy ran his first 5 kilometer run last Saturday. It was the "Keep Austin Weird" 5 k supporting local businesses. Unfortunately, James and I weren't able to watch him cross the finish line because it was raining like the dickens! But if you know Jimmy, you know what a great accomplishment this is. I am so so proud of him.
In the process of training, this guy lost over 90 pounds! He is doing such a great job. He still has a ways to go, but he hopes to reach his goal in the first half of 2010.
Congratulations Jimbo. James, No Name Magoo, and I are so proud of all of your accomplishments. =*

It's too Darn Hot
Jimmy needed to water his garden this evening, so we all headed out to watch/help. All of a sudden a leak sprung in the hose and we had a little fun playing in the geyser. James learned how to turn the hose settings and we all had a water fight. By the end, we were all soaking wet. Shaymous apparently wanted to drink from the leak, or he was attacking it. What do you think?
